Monochem Industries was started by Late Dr. Lalchand J Gajria, in 1956. Before that he was involved in family run business of Manufacturing Gripe Water, under a firm called Oriental Chemicals at Parel, Mumbai. In 1956 he seperated from the family business to establish Monochem (Single Chemist) at Worli.
He started import of Acid Slurry and then manufacturing it himself. From local market Monochem Industries started quoting in Government tenders from 1975 and expanded its business and client base. It had ISI mark on several of its products like Washbo® Liquid Detergent, Easo Scouring Powder, Washbo® Detergent Paste.
